I am Michelle Melia, a Psychotherapist and Counsellor based in Cork City,
offering both on-line and face to face therapeutic support.
I believe that we need all the help we can get these days.
When it comes to talking about our varying struggles, we can sometimes fall into the trap of comparing, and feeling that it is not legitimate for us to express our distress, because we feel that others have much greater problems.
We need to acknowledge that something is going on for everyone.
I want to hear what is going on for you.
My aim is to encourage you to feel worthy enough to speak about
whatever it is that is troubling you.
I aim to enable you to feel safe, understood, respected,
and accepted without judgement.
I am available for a 15-minute consultation (no charge) and we can then see if I am the right therapist to support you to feel better than you currently do.
There are different points in time when we are triggered and feel distress.
It is important to know that whatever your reaction to a life event is, it is worthy.
Life Events Counselling offers you the opportunity to identify and share what it is that is troubling you, however big or small it may seem.
My aim is to work with you to enable you to explore and to understand your emotions and reduce your anxiety.
I aim to create a relationship of trust with you.
Your confidentiality and privacy is extremely important to me.
Rather than silence what you are feeling, I want to hear what is going on for you.
....coping with a loss caused by the pandemic e.g. your wedding plans or another important life event has had to be put on hold?
....experiencing loneliness and separation from family and friends?
....feeling your relationships are strained?
....questioning your career path or contemplating big life changes?
From my work during the pandemic, I have witnessed the increasing need for people to feel listened to,
and to have their unique feelings and experiences validated.
“ no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.”
